What is a small group?

Small Groups are small groups of married couples or individuals that meet weekly in someone’s home for fellowship, food, Bible study, and prayer. They are for adults of all ages, stages of life, and spiritual maturity.

What kinds of small groups are there?

Married Couples

Community groups comprised of married couples in the same stage of life (couples without children, with children, and empty nesters).

Men’s and Women’s

Men and women can join same-gender groups or various stages of life groups (married, single, divorced, widowed).

Starting Point

Starting Point is a 10-week conversational small group where people can explore faith and experience community. These groups are comprised of men and women of all ages and stages of life (single, married, divorced, and widowed).

Are there groups that have married couples and singles together?

Yes. Most groups tend to be one or the other but there are some that have married couples and singles.

Is childcare provided for each group meeting?

Childcare is decided by each individual group. Because each group meets at different times there is not a centralized location for childcare.

When and where do small groups meet?

Our groups generally meet Sunday through Friday evenings, with some meeting at other times during the week. Most married groups meet in the evenings, while men’s and women’s groups meet mornings and evenings. Most groups meet in a consistent location (the home of a group member, local coffee shop, etc.) but some groups prefer to take turns meeting in different members’ homes.

How often do small groups meet?

Most groups meet weekly. Some groups meet 3 times a month and others meet every other week. Due to school and vacation schedules, groups consisting of married couples with children often do not meet during the summer.

How long does each group meeting last?

Every Small Group picks the length of time they will meet but most groups meet for an hour and a half to two hours.

What happens at a small group meeting?

Each group is different but most groups have a time to snack and socialize, then they transition to a time where they discuss the book/video teaching/or scripture they are studying and then close by praying together.

What do groups study?

Each group picks their own curriculum to study with the help of their leader. It could be a study that is relevant for the stage of life(marriage, parenting, empty-nest, single, etc.), it could be a study of a book in the Bible, or it could be a topical study. There is a library of material the church makes available to small group leaders.

How do I join a small group?

The first step is to call or e-mail the church office and let them know you’re interested. At that point, a pastor will contact you and communicate the next steps for getting involved. There are short term small groups available to “test drive” a small group.
